Are You Ready for the Blizzard?

According to weather forecasts, the state of Connecticut will soon be covered in around 15-30 inches of snow, which is approximately two and a half feet! In addition to the snow, forecasters suggest that wind gusts will be blowing at more than 30 miles per hour up to 75 miles per hour. The state is expected to be experiencing this blizzard from 1pm on Monday until midnight on Tuesday. The entire state is suiting up to brace the even colder weather that is forthcoming.

At McCoy & McCoy, we want to ensure that you are as prepared as possible for the weather that is hitting our state. We encourage you to stay close to home as your family and friends will want to ensure that their loved ones are safe. Prepare for any outages that will likely occur across the state. Utility companies have even suggested that the blizzard will result in outages for more than 100,000 customers. Homes and businesses that do lose power could be looking at the outage lasting for several days.

As a result of this upcoming blizzard, the state has issued a travel ban that will begin on 9pm on Monday. Public transportation will end at 8pm. To get commuters home before the travel ban, Metro-North added trains from 1pm to 5pm, which will help avoid an evening rush. Residents of the state are encouraged to do what they can to get home, including leaving work early if possible.

In preparation for the weather, hundreds of schools across the state dismissed students, faculty, and staff early on Monday and many have closed on Tuesday.
