Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral Palsy is a term that refers to any number of neurological disorders in areas of the brain responsible for muscle movement and coordination.  The disease however, is not caused by problems in the muscles or nerves.  It is the result of damage to the parts of the brain that control muscle movements.

The causes of infant brain damage resulting in CP can include birth mistakes such as physician error or negligence, motor vehicle accidents, a fall, or child abuse.  The brain injuries then compromise the body's ability to control movement and posture and often result in seizures, intellectual impairment, and behavioral problems.

Statistics show that 1.2 to 2.5 of every 1,000 infants born alive will develop cerebral palsy.  The majority of children with cerebral palsy will often go undetected as it may not be diagnosed until months or years later.  As the young child or baby, develops, symptoms become more pronounced.

At Attorneys McCoy & McCoy, we are aware of the hardships and struggles families go through in these times.  We understand that you want the same things for your child that all parents want for their children -love, happiness, comfort, and safety. If you suspect that negligence contributed to your child's cerebral palsy, take a moment to get in touch with an experienced cerebral palsy lawyer at the law offices of McCoy and McCoy, LLC. You may be entitled to financial compensation for your child's injuries. A cerebral palsy attorney is ready to help you.
